Sent Ones: A Pathway to the Nations

Across the world today, billions of people still live without meaningful access to the gospel or a local expression of church. For Catalyst, this is not a distant issue, it’s a shared responsibility across the 40+ nations we serve. We long to see pioneers moving from nation to nation, responding together to Jesus’ call to make disciples of all nations.

“Sent Ones” is our way of bringing greater clarity, purpose, and care to that calling.

More than a process, “Sent Ones” is a practical and relational framework designed to help churches send people cross-culturally in a way that is sustainable, well-supported, and rooted in our shared apostolic values. It’s an open invitation, to churches and to individuals, to take intentional steps into God’s mission to the nations.

For churches: A way to send well

Many churches want to engage meaningfully in global mission but aren’t always sure where to begin. “Sent Ones” seeks to provide a clear and accessible pathway.

It helps churches recognise and support those who may be called, while ensuring that sending is thoughtful rather than rushed. Through a structured 7-step journey, including exploring, discerning, training, and ongoing care, meaning local churches can confidently raise and release people who are genuinely prepared for cross-cultural life and ministry.

Just as importantly, churches don’t do this alone. “Sent Ones” is designed to work within a wider ecosystem, where Catalyst Hubs and trusted mission partners come alongside local churches. Together, they offer training, insight, and support, creating a shared approach where responsibility is clear, care is prioritised, and people are equipped to serve well over the long term.

For individuals: Explore your calling

If you’ve ever wondered whether you might be called to the nations, “Sent Ones” offers a way to explore that calling with both honesty and support.

There is space to ask questions, gain experience, and grow in understanding before making significant commitments. Through short-term opportunities, intentional discernment, and tailored preparation, the 7 step sending journey is designed to help you work out your next step.

Not everyone who begins this journey will go long-term, and that’s okay. Discernment is a vital part of the process. But for those who do go, the aim is to ensure you are equipped not only practically, but also spiritually and personally for what lies ahead.

A thoughtful approach to mission

Cross-cultural mission brings both opportunity and complexity, and “Sent Ones” takes both seriously.

We want to emphasise strong preparation, ongoing support, and shared responsibility between churches, leaders, and mission partners. It also allows flexibility in our methodology of how mission is expressed, whether through church planting, disciple-making, business initiatives, or partnership with local believers, while keeping the focus on healthy, locally rooted gospel outcomes.

The goal is simple: that people go well, are supported well, and are able to serve fruitfully over time, so that together with the wider church, we would reach the nations.

Take the next step

Whether you are part of a church exploring how to engage more intentionally in global mission, or an individual sensing a possible call to go, “Sent Ones” is here to help you move forward.
